After enjoying many holidays on Islay, Ron, Emma and their son Alasdair took the plunge and moved to the island in the summer of 2008, from the south of England. Moving to Scotland was a long held wish for them both and coming home for Ron, who originates from Glasgow. Previously, Ron had been the Club Professional at Epsom Golf Club in Surrey and now he teaches at the wonderful Machrie Links, a course highly rated in the UK.
To complement the golf tuition that Ron provides they decided to start up a new business utilising Emmaʼs training in Hotel Management. Having completed the renovation of The Old Excise House, Emma and Ron opened for business in May 2010. They sympathetically converted their family home to provide two large, luxuriously furnished en-suite bedrooms with an adjoining sitting/breakfast room. All rooms are situated on the first floor to make the most of the sea views. Visitors can now enjoy a warm welcome, comfortable nights rest and good food in a beautiful, scenic location.
Ron and Emma enjoy sharing their home and their knowledge of the island with guests. They are committed to ensuring that visitors are well looked after throughout their stay and that the visit is a truly memorable one. Advice and help on planning all aspects of your stay is always offered, just contact them.
